These three unlikely friends—Appaloosa Nevada, the ten-year-old horse, Shetland Napoleon, the six-year-old pony, and Jack Sparrow, the two-year-old Dalmatian—look almost identical thanks to their distinctive spots.
Their owner, horse trainer Greetje Arends-Hakvoort, told the Daily Mail that the animals love running, training, and having fun together regularly. “I’ve always wanted a Dalmatian dog, and I love spotted horses, so two of my wishes came together in a special way.”
Greetje, 35, from the Netherlands, added: “Napoleon was born around the same time as Jolie, so they grew up together and are now best friends.”
“People always smile when they see the three of them together. Often, people refer to the movie 101 Dalmatians, and it brings back good childhood memories for them,” she said. “When Jack was younger, he saw himself as one of the horses and fit right in.”
“Trust is the key word here. Horses thrive when there is trust, and they need to feel comfortable and confident, and Jack does exactly that. There is a lot of love between them,” said Greetje. “We now have even more space because the family is growing! We have three other horses, and training them is my passion.”
