The pop star has three cats named Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button. The feline trio often appears in social media posts, public outings, advertisements, and the artist’s music videos.
Read on to learn everything about Swift’s cats, from their breeds to how they entered her life:
Benjamin Button
Swift’s youngest cat, chosen to star on the cover of TIME magazine alongside its owner, was named after the character played by Brad Pitt in the movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”
She met the Ragdoll cat on the set of the “ME!” music video, co-starring her other two cats. In a behind-the-scenes clip, Swift picks up Benjamin, who purrs in her lap. “He’s purring,” Swift says as she pets him. Soon, he wins her over. “Can I keep him?” she asks.
Eventually, she brought Benjamin home. When the feline celebrated his 22nd birthday (in cat years) in 2021, Swift made sure to pay tribute with her song “22.”

Meredith Grey
Meredith is the oldest of the singer’s three cats. Swift adopted the Scottish Fold in 2011 and named her after the character played by Ellen Pompeo on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Meredith, like her siblings, is a star on Swift’s social media. During the pandemic, she shared some advice straight from Meredith. “For Meredith, self-quarantine is a way of life. Be like Meredith,” the singer wrote in the caption.

Meredith, who even has her own page on IMDb, also appeared in the music video for the track “ME!.” In the video, the kitten is seen sitting on the couch next to Swift’s second cat, Olivia.
Olivia Benson
Like Meredith, Olivia Benson is a Scottish Fold cat. Swift adopted her second cat in 2014 and named her after the character played by Mariska Hargitay on “Law & Order: SVU.”
Almost a decade later, Hargitay returned the favor and named her cat Karma after Swift’s song from the “Midnights” album.
