Pugsley, a two-year-old cat from the USA, has just been crowned the holder of the world record for the longest tail in the world.

The feline, whose full name is Mr. Pugsley Addams, lives with his family in Minnesota and received the title last Wednesday (26) from Guinness World Records.

Pugsley is a Maine Coon, a breed known for its giant size, so his nearly 47 cm long tail isn’t much of a surprise. Amanda Cameron, the cat’s owner, revealed that his tail has always been long.

“The first time I took him to the vet, he walked in and said, ‘That’s a REALLY long tail.’ And I looked at it, really looked at it, and thought, ‘Yeah… it kind of is, isn’t it?’” she recalled to Guinness.

Six months later, the vet officially measured Pugsley’s tail and found that it wasn’t just impressively long, but longer than that of the previous record holder.

“So I told my kids, and of course, their first reaction was to see if there was a current Guinness World Records title for it. And what do you know — there was, and to our surprise, Pugsley beat it!” Amanda added.

Indeed, an impressive tail. But given his current age, it’s likely that both Pugsley and his tail will grow even more in the future.
