Tater Tot, the famous rescue kitten who touched the hearts of millions of internet users with his messy fur and adorable casts on his paws, passed away at his home in Utah, USA, last Wednesday (August 2).

His adoptive mother, Ash Houghton, shared the poignant news on Facebook, sharing the news with Tater Tot’s fans. “Honestly, I’m not sure how to start this post, but here it goes. Today, our little potato suddenly passed away in my hands,” she recounted.
She revealed that Tater Tot had symptoms of pneumonia and had been treated with antibiotics. Despite her best efforts, however, the lovable kitten couldn’t survive.
Ash mentioned that she believed Tater Tot might have had a heart problem, which made his struggle even more challenging. She appreciated the time she spent with him and thanked the support of the community.
“This little potato had such a profound impact on my heart, and I’m incredibly happy to have been able to share him with the whole world,” she also wrote.
