Railway worker Santosh Lohar, 35, was working in a forested area near the town of Nawada in Bihar, India, when the incident occurred on Tuesday night (2nd).
When Lohar went to sleep, the reptile suddenly attacked him. He reacted by quickly grabbing the snake and biting it twice, killing the creature, whose species has not been confirmed.
“In my village, there is a belief that if a snake bites you, you should bite it twice to neutralize the venom,” Lohar told India Today.
After the bite, Lohar was rushed to the hospital by his colleagues. He was hospitalized overnight and responded well to treatment, according to the Times of India, indicating he received antivenom. He was discharged from the hospital the next day.
