Just like for humans, chiropractic care for animals, particularly for cats, is an alternative medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders.
Pet chiropractors, like the famous Murat Colak, use manual techniques to adjust spinal misalignments, which professionals claim help improve the overall well-being of the animal. However, despite its growing popularity, chiropractic care for cats remains a subject of debate in the veterinary community.
“I would advise people that when they see things that look scary, or hear a crack or pop in the spine or some significant twisting movements, that person may not really be trained in animal chiropractic treatment,” said Molly Flaherty, clinical instructor in rehabilitation medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, to the Inverse website.
Some experts warn of potential risks and emphasize the importance of consulting a qualified veterinarian. They state that while beneficial in some cases, chiropractic care should not replace regular veterinary care.
