A kitten with three legs found a perfect friend during its recovery process. Rooibos – better known as Roo – arrived at the Alley Cat Rescue Rehabilitation Center in Los Angeles, USA, with its mother and other kittens.

After physiotherapy, massages, and treatments, its left leg improved, but it eventually lost its right paw.
Despite the disability, the kitten with three legs showed bravery and tried to move like its siblings. Roo relied on the help of animal caregivers for this. “We supported him under the belly and encouraged him to move.

With this support and by seeing its siblings playing and walking, it began to move as best as it could,” explained a spokesperson for the organization on Love Meow‘s website.

To protect the kitten’s body while it explored the shelter’s surroundings, the animal rehabilitation center provided some socks for Roo. “Nothing stops him. We made sure that all the surfaces he walks on are as soft as possible.”

At the same time, a kitten named Buttercup was rescued by Alley Cat Rescue. Just like Roo, the feline was born with abnormalities in its paws and received daily physiotherapy. In less than a month, it showed significant progress in walking and mobility. When Buttercup and Roo met, a strong bond formed between the kittens. The new friend became a perfect mentor for the three-legged animal.

“Buttercup encourages Roo to explore the house, and Roo is definitely getting stronger and braver under its guidance,” reported Alley Cat Rescue.

Buttercup ensures that its friend plays and exercises its paws while awake and offers support during nap time. “He can do what everyone else can,” praised the animal rehabilitation center.
