The three-year-old female dog, who lives with her owners in Metairie, Louisiana (USA), has an impressive tongue measuring 12.7 centimeters in length, which is longer than a soda can!
Sadie and Drew Williams, Zoey’s owners, explained that her tongue has always been sticking out of her mouth from a very early age. “We got Zoey when she was only six weeks old, and in the first picture we have of her, her tongue is sticking out,” Sadie said.
“We thought she would certainly grow up [and stop doing that], but obviously not. She still has a huge tongue compared to her body.”
Her huge tongue is particularly noticeable after Zoey has been panting after exercising, according to Drew. “She would be drooling all over the place. So last year, we took her to the vet and had her tongue measured,” he said.
To confirm the record, Zoey’s tongue was measured from the tip of her snout to the tip of her tongue. She beat the record of a three-year-old English setter named Bisbee from Tucson, Arizona (USA), whose tongue measures 9.49 cm.
