In July 2020, Rex and Britnee Smith lived in Little Rock, Arkansas, with their 5-year-old daughter at the time, and their two pit bulls, Jack and Jill. Unfortunately, it was during this time that their two pups managed to escape from the family’s fenced yard and disappeared, according to USA Today.
Despite their best efforts, the Smiths couldn’t locate the dogs. Eventually, they had to move to another city over 480 km away, McKinney, Texas, without their furry family members.
But after several years, they finally received the call they had been waiting for. Rex was contacted by Little Rock Animal Village and was told that Jill was with them. Rex then called Britnee, who cried tears of joy upon hearing the news.
“It’s like she never left us. She came straight into our arms,” Britnee said. As for Jack, he hasn’t been found yet, but the Smiths hope that one day they will all reunite.
In a Facebook post, the clinic credits Jill’s reunion to her microchip. “We love a happy ending. Microchips make them possible. Please microchip your pets! And be sure to register them!” said the Little Rock Animal Village team.
